LAKEWOOD A request in early April for redevelopment proposals at the former Spitzer dealership site has netted one response.

NRP Group LLC of Garfield Heights, a full-service developer, submitted a proposal to build 40 affordable living units, aimed at people aged 55 and older, on the 1.5-acres of property located at 13815 and 13901 Detroit Avenue.

Lakewood and Spitzer Management, Inc. partnered to send out the request for the site, which has sat vacant since the franchise was lost as part Chrysler LLC’s bankruptcy court filing in 2009.

Dru Siley, Lakewood’s assistant director of planning and development, said the city has forwarded the proposal to Spitzer for review.

“The ball is in Spitzer’s court,” said Siley, who noted that the proposal was very lengthy.

He said Spitzer officials will likely take their time in reviewing the information before any decisions are made.

The request did specifically recognize a single-level attached residential development targeting the 55-plus age group as a market need

Spitzer Autoworld Donates Clothing to Haiti Earthquake Survivors

(Cleveland, OH)

All Spitzer Autoworld locations are gathering clothing that will be donated to the Red Cross in Elyria for their Haiti relief efforts. All dealerships have been asked to gather any new or slightly worn clothing that bears out-of-date dealership identification including shirts, hats and towels. All employees have also been asked to bring in any clean clothing or bedding items from home that they would like donate.

A magnitude-7 earthquake struck Haiti on January 12. According to Haitian authorities up to 200,000 people have lost their lives and up to 3 million others were left hurt or homeless and clamoring for assistance.

Spitzer Autoworld has 18 locations in 3 states representing Acura, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, GMC, Ford, Kia, Mitsubishi, Pontiac, Scion, Toyota and VW as well as multiple stand alone stores specializing in pre-owned vehicles.
